Speed of thought

The most important element in combat, i dare say is your speed of thought.

It happened one evening in the dojo, where my thought went from ‘oh, shit’ to ‘i can do this!’ and vice versa. the speed of that swing is faster than a nano second.

This swing is very common, and point to take is that we hinge the majority of our happiness on this mood pendulum. Well, it is not hypothetically called a ‘mood swing’ for nothing.

To know about it is one thing, to catch it from happening is another, and when you do catch it the way i caught mine, what can we do? Or can we do anything about it?

We simply cannot. Doing something about it is not nipping the issue at the bud. We have to bring about awareness to it, that is all. the more we can bring our awareness to our moods, the more we can understand how it arises. When we know how it arises we can understand the triggering point of it, and then make concrete steps to reinforce the positive triggering points.

What about the negative ones? do we need to do something about it? Well, as long as you keep working on the positive ones, the positive ones will get stronger and stronger, and eventually will replaces the negative ones, without us having to do anything about it.

And all these will happen at the speed of thought.
