Isotonic drink Aikido

I caught a conversation between Matthias and Renny the other night on our way home after class. You see, Renny likes to grab a can, or two of isotonic drink before and after class. And Matthias, presents his rock solid logic of the virtues of the isotonic drink, or not.

We all know and can find on our own to support for and against the values of consuming isotonic drink. And many like me, find plain, ol’ water works well, just as well as any isotonic drink. And yet, there is a massive market out there for isotonic drink. Hell, there are even people paying good money just for plain ol’ water! that is the power of branding!

So what has this got to do with Aikido and martial arts?

Here’s how i explain the connection.

Fighting is fighting, anyone given a decent fist and kick straight will put up a good fight, so the will to fight will equip one to find the ways to fight. hence we can say that fighting, is like water. We can continue this path of fighting. just like using water to quench our thirst. but that simply wouldn’t do. if that’ll do, the the entire school of martial arts would not have existed, lest flourish.

So we humans improve things, find ways to improve. and ways to counter the improvements. We don’t leave things as they are. Aikido will not have happen if ‘O’ sensei had stuck with daito-ryu aikijiujitsu. He decided to make his own ‘isotonic drink’ of a martial arts. Many can argue that Aikido is simply a watered down version of daito-ryu aikijiujitsu, but given the popularity of Aikido, we can attest to the popularity of ‘O’ sensei’s brand of ‘isotonic drink’.

So maybe you can take ‘O’ sensei’s form of ‘isotonic drink’ and make it your own kind, popularising it over the world.
